Had a skor brownie and it was so good! The staff were friendly (and fast with making the orders!) and the cashier was happy to recommend things off the menu 👌
Nice vegan espresso brownie and coffee proper. Location a bit hidden
Planet Coffee is tucked away in a corner, but what an amazing coffee place! Authentic coffees and snacks, definitely worth the visit!
Haven't been to planet coffee in years and went today with a friend for lunch. Service was friendly and helped me choose a delicious sandwich. Also happy that they now offer pay wave! Definitely recommend this cute hidden gem of a coffee shop
Great Local Coffee Spot. Excellent coffee in a cool little Ally that remind you of something out of Harry Potter. And then turns into a beautiful tree-lined Courtyard. If you're staying at the Westin it is super close and convenient
All time favourite coffee spot! Super helpful with allergies too.
Superb place for quiet coffee with friends. Close to the market and excellent shopping. They have nice shaded outdoor seating to enjoy your coffee and treats outside. Maybe on the pricey side but good atmosphere and location.
I am not a fan of sugarless coffee, but coffee here proved me wrong. For a change this is the only place where I liked coffee without sugar. May be it was the uniqueness of their coffee which made it taste so good..
Great team who happily indulge my silly requests to construct a #Canadiano (an Americano finished to taste then topped with a snowdrift of milk foam). Good place to meet up for talking or retreating for thinking. Plenty of temptations on the sweet side & their lunches are solid (I usually go for the soup & sandwich combos). And at least in the early morning, the music is always interesting. Finally the Chocolate Peanut Butter Oatmeal Bar is awesome (always a hit when you bring some home).
Very nice place for a coffee and a treat
Coziest place, best cheesecakes I've tasted in a long time! Absolutely love this place!
Love this little hidden cache in ottawa. The coffee is not bad, but its a great place to lounge when its nice out!
their freshly ground coffee is delicious; and its always a treat to enjoy lounging in their courtyard patio area. highly recommended.
Great coffee shop tucked away in the courtyard of the Byward Market. Every time I walk in I am immediately greeted by the friendly staff. Can't complain about the drip coffee - it is consistently good, but have yet to try any food or specialty drinks. The atmosphere is quite pleasant; good music, lots of plants, and a beautiful view. Will definitely be coming back for my coffee breaks.
Outdoor seating is nice and quiet and the baked goods are usually pretty delicious. If you're going for a regular coffee it's pretty consistent but the specialty drinks are hit or miss and can get outrageously expensive, unfortunately depending on who the barista is that day. I would give it 3.5 out of 5 so I'll round up. *Good regular brewed coffee*Spacious indoor and outdoor seating*Good pastries
Delicious desserts, amazing coffee.
The name is very deceiving because the coffee is awfully mediocre. Ordered a medium ice latte and got a small cup with very very weak coffee and probably more ice than milk. The service and the sweets are pretty good. The location is also very attractive but that's a about it.
The food is very delicious the staff are friendly. Love the place. Definitely coming back again.
A not-so-secret-anymore gem in the Byward Market. Love the coffee from this place. The atmosphere, staff and overall experience exceeds my expectations for a small independent coffee shop. Desserts are equally great. Made in house in front of you as you order your coffee so you know they are fresh and homemade.
Best coffee in town! The Americano is so smooth. Cute location and friendly staff.Accepts Apple Pay.
Great coffee. Desert, and beautiful surrounding
This shop is gem tucked away slightly from the hustle & bustle of every day traffic in the ByWard market! Everything is prepared from scratch....everything from pastries, soups and a variety of panini lunch items! The staff are quite friendly and helpful! The shop has managed to survive 24 years in the market area and with the original owners! This in itself is an amazing accomplishment! However, be prepared as they accept cash only, no debit or credit cards! The shop is a must visit! 🤗❤️🇨🇦👍😎😊😉😀👋
Avoid this place!!! It use to be great with good sandwiches but they have gone way down hill. Here is a photo of a sandwich I recently got from them... Expensive and terrible.
Very good place to enjoy a quick meal great coffee and pastries.
Staff is always lovely! Went in this morning and tried there cheese cake and it was absolutely delicious. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a great, local coffee shop!
A great spot for when you’re in the area. Coffee was good, but not the best we’ve tried in Ottawa. The best part about this place was its outdoor patio. It had a really nice atmosphere to relax and chat or read a book away from the busy streets. Staff was also very friendly and accommodating. (Note: our pastries were from Moulin de Provence).
Nice email coffee shop. A hidden gem I just discovered for the first time. Will definitely return next time in the By-Ward market area. Coffee is great, better than Timi's if you ask me. Good job guys.
I really want to like this place, it's in an interesting location, close to my work, and it's always busy at lunch. I don't love it because each of the 5 times I've visited, the food has been overpriced and underwhelming. This apple and Brie panini was $9.60. Prices seem to have gone up since the min wage raise. The cookies are on the dry and crumbly side, the cakes are on the bland and less sweet side. Cash only!

It was great. Great service!
I like that they make their own pastries, the cake cake was good and the other thing look good too. My capuchino was ok, a bit small but good.
Can't really take photos. Coffee to good! The kids were polite so the place was kind to us all. Will be back for a date weekend with just the wife and I. A whole weekend of nice moments. This public secret was passed to me by a friend from the area, glad they did. Love the smells and the sights!
I went a couple of days ago and I had the chai latte and my friend had the maple latte, both were delicious, and the service was really good.
Great service, food and coffee and a lovely patio
Really wanted to like this place more because it’s cute and close to Rideau, but I’m not really impressed. I find the food and drink items overpriced. I understand that its location is expensive and they may need to charge more, but it’s not really worth it from a customer point of view considering it’s cash only already. The staff is really nice and the decor is cool. The lemon square I got was $4 and was decently sweet, but was mostly crust and not very much curd. I started getting sick of the crust halfway through the bar because it was 3:1 compared to the layer of lemon curd! Might come back again to try something else if I’m in the area, but not going to go out of my way to come here. I suppose it’s a calm place for reading or a casual date, but there isn’t wifi here so it wouldn’t be an ideal study spot.
Coffee is really tasty and they've got some nice snacks and treats. It is usually packed in here and the space is a little bit uncomfortable to sit in.
Good local coffee house. Great decor, location and music. Double corrado on the weak, watery side
Staff was excellent. They were welcoming, pleasant and efficient. Gave me some useful tips about sight seeing in Ottawa as well. The coffee was great; much better than the coffee from the other local cafes around the area. Great place for a conversation or for reading.Staff was excellent. They only take cash, so come prepared. This is a bit impractical, since they are located in a very touristy area and many tourists these days are more likely to have a couple of credit cards with travel perks over a wad of cash. They do have an ATM on-site (which charges a fee). Biggest downer for me though was that they don't have a whole milk option. Like in many Canadian coffeshops (at least in my experience), the dairy milk options are reduced-fat: 1% or 2% only. They do have 10% cream which they were happy to mix in to my cappucino, but cream can often have carrageenan added to it, which I generally try to avoid... Coffee itself was nothing to write home about, but entirely drinkable. Staff was very friendly, service was fast. If you're not overly concerned with the creaminess of your latte and have some Canadian change floating around, this is a cozy option for coffee in the market.
This is a nice little gem in the market. Great coffee and baked goods. Very clean and service was awesome.
Good place to relax. The coffee tastes good, although preparation of specialty drinks follows more along the methods of Bridgehead or second cup rather than an Italian cafe (which is fine, so long as you know what you’re getting). There lots of variety of foods and snacks. A little over priced, but I don’t expect anything less than that from an establishment in the market. It seems popular with students so there’s lots of people on laptops, but it is spacious so you don’t feel to cramped. I would recommend Planet Coffee as a coffee shop in the market where you can relax or work for and hour +.
Wonderful service, tasteful and upbeat music which creates a chill/relaxing vibe, perfect lighting, comfortable seating, chic/elegant decor and layout, and delicious food and coffee.Accepts Apple Pay / Tap.Very helpful and friendly service. The barista who took my order helped me decide upon my drink, and brought my food order right to my table.I will definitely be returning to Planet Coffee in the future, and recommending it to friends. 😊
Fantastic coffee! Do yourself a favor and treat yourself to a delicious latte and admire the gorgeous art and open air courtyard. Great hang out with a friend, especially in the time of covid. I will be coming here again! Highly recommend!
Friendly service, tasty coffee & rhubarb pies.
Always a nice quiet corner in the usual bustle of the market area— good coffee, tasty snacks (cookies are great generally)— staff friendliness has been variable in the past but has improved recently— great spot!
The berry iced tea was sweetened but could have used more.
Great quality coffee, very rich hot chocolate. Cozy atmosphere, good location, great service.
The coffee is bold, well brewed and ever flowing and the deserts are very tasty. I look forward to returning again.
Love sitting outside of the cafe; it’s nice and a bit secluded from the hustle and bustle of Byward. Also, their bread pudding is a must try!
Great food menu. Atmosphere was good. Great services. Everything was well organised. Food was tasty.
